Auto Electrician or Electronics Technician (or 4th Year Apprentice)

An experienced Auto-Electrician or Electronics Technician is required for an immediate start to work with the team of Auto-Electricians and other highly skilled team members. The variety and complexity of systems can be challenging and yet rewarding as we employ the latest electronic technologies in manufacturing quality buses.

Job tasks and responsibilities

Your new role will involve some or all of the following depending on your experience and willingness to learn:

• Manufacture and install harnesses
• Install and connect internal and external electrical and electronic components
• Install and connect internal and external lighting
• Connect vehicle air conditioning units
• Install and connect vehicle surveillance systems
• Connect entry doors including pneumatic systems
• Program multiplex systems
• Trouble shoot and fix electrical and electronic problems
• Progressive quality control inspections & electrical inspection of completed buses skills and experience
• Auto Electrician Tradesman, 4th year apprentice or highly skilled automotive trades assistant
• Ability to read, interpret and construct wiring and circuitry drawings
• Familiar with computer controlled systems• Familiarity with PLC/Multiplex control systems desirable
• Familiar with pneumatic systems desirable
• Able to make complex harnesses or be trained
• Prefer experience in surveillance system installation
• Prefer experience with CANbus systems

Tradesmen and Trades Assistants - Finishers

For over 25 years Express Coach Builders has manufactured buses and coaches for customers throughout Australia. Employing 65 people, we are located in Macksville on the mid-north coast of NSW. We have a strong reputation for building quality buses.

We are seeking tradesmen and trade assistants with a background in upholstery or cabinet-making or glazing or vehicle fit-outs or any trade that requires good finishing skills and attention to detail. Must be enthusiastic, motivated, and willing to continually contribute in a team environment while producing on-time quality work.

The variety of duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Fitting and trimming windows and windscreens
  • Fitting door seals
  • Fitting carpet to under-carriage bin doors
  • Fit wheel arch moulds and mud flaps
  • Screeding external panels
  • Fit front & rear bumpers
  • Fit sound & heat insulation
  • Fit mirrors – internal & external
  • Fit entry doors and drivers doors
  • Trim internal panels with vinyl and fabric
  • Install passenger and drivers seating
  • Trim & fit luggage racks
  • Fit handrails & staunchions

To be successful you will need:

  • Experience in finishing trades or trades requiring detailed quality output
  • Workshop experience preferred
  • Experience using power tools and hand tools
  • Fabrication skills would be a bonus
  • Experience in the motor vehicle industry not necessary but handy
  • High attention to detail and high work standard
  • Ability to work in a team collaboratively
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment medical test

Tradesmen and Trades Assistants - Welder

We are seeking experienced welders. Must be enthusiastic, motivated, and willing to continually contribute in a team environment while producing on-time quality work.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Positioning, assembling and welding bus body frames
  • Positioning and welding sheet metal to bus body frames
  • Space frame bus undercarriages
  • Fabricate and fit bus flooring joists
  • Position and weld various frame attachments such as headers and wheel arch boxes

To be successful you will need:

  • Experience and/or qualifications in a workshop environment in welding medium to heavy gauge steel.
  • MIG welding required – structural or similar
  • Fabrication skills on sheet metal preferred
  • Experience using power tools and hand tools
  • Ability to read and fabricate from engineering drawings
  • High attention to detail and high work standard
  • Ability to work in a team collaboratively
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment medical test
