Defence Force personnel have been making use of the 10 coaches manufactured by Express Coach Builders in Macksville.

A $10 million contract to supply 21 new coaches to the Australian Defence Force has helped create jobs in Macksville.

Ten coaches manufactured by Express Coach Builders are now in active duty for the Australian Defence Force across Australia.

Express Coach Builders has partnered with Scania Australia to manufacture the 21 touring coaches. Scania Australia imports the chassis assemblies from Sweden and sub-contracts the coach body-building to Express Coach Builders.

To date, their coaches have been delivered to defence force bases in South Australia, Queensland, the ACT, NSW and Victoria. Federal Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker and Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Darren Chester recently visited the local coach manufacturers to inspect the factory where the vehicles are being produced.

“It is terrific to see our local north coast businesses supplying our national defence forces,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“This has created not only local jobs but also great pride, particularly when you see the fruits of local labour making it onto the national stage. “Express Coach Builders manufacture products of exceptionally high quality using skilled local tradesmen and expertise.”
